I got the confirmation call from the U-Haul reservation. I changed the pick up time to 7am and rented a 17 ft truck. My social worker called and said she would put the message through to my caseworker to get a verbal commit over to JCP&L so the electric isn't turned off. The doctor's office called to confirm my appointment for Monday. CVS called with a refill reminder. All this was during my first cup of coffee. Whew!
Dayna and I picked up Dad and headed to Lowes, where he "had fun breaking in his credit card." He bought us a new toilet seat (one that actually fits to toilet), a curtain rod, curtains for the sliding glass doors in the living room (nice heavy material, blue like my chair and soon to be couch flowers, regularly $32/panel, on clearance for $8.74! Some one must have taught me how to shop!), burner plate covers and a new receptacle for the stove.
Dad hung the living room curtains for me while installing the curtain rod. I cleaned out the bottom cabinets and contact papered the drawers. Dayna played on her computer. Dad fixed up the stove. He put the burner plates on, set the burners in, and began playing with the faulty receptacle. The dialogue went something like this:
Me: "Should you be doing that with the electric power on?"
Dad: "Most people would probably turn it off."
Me: "Have you done this before?"
Dad: "No."
Me: "Do I need to worry about you electrocuting yourself?"
Dad: "At least I'll know I'm alive. For all I know, I died a half hour ago and just don't know it."
At least he still has his sense of humor!
